Hey parents! It may be back-to-school, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still book that end-of-summer getaway to Sunriver. Because guess what? Sunriver is one of the best places to go for some hands-on learning. So no more feeling guilty about the kids missing a few days from school! There are some incredible educational opportunities right here in Sunriver. Check out our list of “family field trips” you can take while you’re visiting. Who said you can’t learn a little while on vacation?

4. Lava Lands Visitor Center :

Lava Lands Visitor Center is the interpretive hub of Newberry National Volcanic Monument. The center features a state of the art interpretive exhibit on area geologic and cultural history, as well as spectacular views from the top of Lava Butte (click HERE for trail info). Visitors can view a variety of films scheduled daily; walk the Trail of Molten Land and the Trail of the Whispering Pines; or travel on the fully accessible 5.5 mile Sun-Lava paved path. Rather just take it easy? Picnic under the pines, attend a ranger talk, or shop at the Discover Your Forest Bookstore.
