Shannon, Real Estate Broker
Our Real Estate Broker, Shannon Gleasman has been with Bennington Properties since the end of 2011. Originally hired as a Vacation Planner, she moved into the role of Reservation Sales Manager in 2013 getting her license in Real Estate in 2016.
A true Oregon girl, Shannon grew up in Medford with her parents and older brother, where she graduated from North Medford High School. Shannon learned many of the activities that bring our guests to Sunriver; including backpacking, fly fishing at her family’s cabin on the Rogue River, skiing & snowboarding, and tennis. She competed in many United States Tennis Association tournaments and won the 4A High School Women’s Tennis Doubles championship as a senior.
After spending a year on a Rotary International Youth Exchange scholarship in Denmark, Shannon graduated with a BA in International Studies: focus on Peace Studies, Human Rights and Conflict Resolution in Latin America, from the University of Oregon. During her time in the program, Shannon spent a semester abroad in Valdivia Chile at the Universidad Austral de Chile.
A little known fact about Shannon is that she has been stung by a scorpion while visiting Mexico, and attacked by killer bees in Panama.
Like many Central Oregonians, Shannon and her husband Wade, then living in Joseph, Oregon, decided to move here after visiting a friend in Bend. Looking for a change, our slice of heaven met their two important criteria; a fun, outdoorsy town, and a great mountain. By the time they drove home from their visit, they had already made up their minds to relocate here.
Two months after their arrival, Shannon started at Bennington Properties December 27, 2011. She quickly took to her role as Vacation Planner and her outgoing personality and love of helping people made it a perfect fit.
“I enjoy touring all the homes and helping people plan their vacations,” says Shannon. “I get to talk about how much fun they'll have when visiting…it’s easy to get guests excited about their trip.”
Shannon enjoys everything Sunriver has to offer. She loves to walk her nine year old Golden Retriever, Cadio along the river, ride her bike almost everywhere, and relax on the river. Fall is her favorite season as the weather stays nice, the trails are perfect and winter is just around the corner.
Like many residents and guests alike, Shannon loves to eat at the many breweries in Sunriver and Bend. Sunriver Brewing’s Steelhead Sandwich is one of her favorites. But, listed as her best kept dining secret is Big Belly Burgers & Brew, located in the business park. “It’s a very relaxed atmosphere and a perfect spot to sneak away to for lunch when the Village gets too busy,” explains Shannon.
Shannon’s Insider Tips for Central Oregon
Moonlight Snowshoeing - Pack some snacks and head out for some fun to beat cabin fever on these short days. There are several great shelters stocked with firewood & wood stoves located out of the snow parks off Cascade Lakes Highway on the way to Mt. Bachelor. Popular during Full Moons and Winter Solstice.
Bend Elks Baseball - A great family night out! On $2 Tuesdays, it’s $2 to get in, $2 hot dogs, and $2 beer. That’s tough to beat.
Music at the Bend’s Les Scwab Amphitheater - Pay for a ticket or grab a seat on the grass along the river opposite the amphitheater. The acoustics over the water are great.
