Melissa, Guest & Owner Representative
Melissa joined Bennington Properties in June 2018 as a Guest & Owner Services Representative and is one of the friendly faces you’ll find greet you at our front desk!
Melissa was born in California but was raised in Portland and currently lives in La Pine. When she was a child, her family took summer trips to Central Oregon. She fondly remembers those adventures from visits to Cultus, Little North, and South Twin Lakes to seeing her first herd of elk and gutting her first fish--it’s no wonder she chose to make our area her home!
She is married to her husband, Steve, who is very handy and owns his own local contracting business. They have three children. Melissa’s eldest daughter, Cecelia (22), just gave birth to their first grandchild, Jade Ivory. Melissa’s family is rounded out by River, a huge black Mastiff and Henna, their Chiweenie.
When Melissa isn’t working or babysitting her new grandbaby, she loves watching her other kids, Lilian Rose (12) and Luis (15) display their confident athleticism in their respective sports. Lily is in her 7th year of wrestling but also loves volleyball and soccer and runs track. Luis’ favorite sport is basketball, but he also excels in track, recently placing 2nd in State with the Central Oregon Track Club! Luis also plays on the Varsity football team at La Pine High School. They were the undefeated Mountain Valley Conference League Champions last year. Proud Mama!
The one food you absolutely couldn’t get Melissa to eat is canned peaches. She just can’t stand them! She’s not sure if it’s her actual distaste for them or if it’s because of the movie “Police Academy.” When one of the characters almost swallowed a goldfish whole, Melissa’s sister assured her the actors in the movie were just swallowing canned peaches, since they look so similar. She’s never forgotten that!
When she’s not greeting you at our front desk, you can find Melissa enjoying the outdoors with her family or curled up with one of her favorite non-fiction authors, Ann Rule or Torey Hayden.
Melissa loves Sunriver because there’s so much to do, regardless of the season, but her favorite season here is Fall from the smell of the crisp, clean air to the promise of new-ness this time of year brings. She loves that the bike paths and shuttles available to different float areas encourage physical activity.
Her favorite local eats are at The Wallow Bar & Grill. She loves their cheddar & mushroom soup and their Bloody Mary! Her super duper local insider tip is geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting! You can get started at www.geocaching.com and can use any GPS-enabled mobile phone to play along.
If She Were Planning Your Vacation, Melissa Wouldn’t Want You to Miss:
