Kim Balsama, Director of Sales & Marketing
Kim and her husband, Robert, relocated to Central Oregon from Redwood City, California on a whim, during the summer of 2018 and Kim started her position with Bennington Properties shortly thereafter.
She and her husband recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary! Kim’s favorite family tradition is sharing spaghetti and meatballs with Robert on Valentine’s Day, “Lady and the Tramp” style (if you’re sensing the start of an Italian-theme, you’re spot on…).
Kim has worked in the hospitality industry for 16 years and has a Culinary Arts degree from Le Cordon Bleu. If you had an hour to spare, Kim would love to teach you how to make fresh pasta. Even though she loves Italian cuisine, don’t dare try to get Kim eating eggplant—it’s her least favorite food!
Her love of fitness started in the dance studio and when she’s not working in the Bennington Properties’ offices, you can find her working out at the CrossFit gym or conquering an obstacle course race—Kim’s hardcore! So dedicated in fact, that she signed up for the Spartan Trifecta, committing to completing at least three Spartan races in a 12-month stretch. In the Spartan community, this easily qualifies Kim as a “Beast.”
Since one of Kim’s favorite childhood memories is rafting down the Truckee river with her family, it’s easy to see why kayaking and hiking are some of her favorite activities around Sunriver. If she were hosting friends for a visit, she would make sure they didn’t miss the opportunity to hike the Paulina Creek Falls trail from the McKay campground.
Fresh air and gorgeous mountain views are some of Kim’s favorite Central Oregon features. She’s especially enamored by the fall season in our region, when the heat of summer has burned off a bit and the leaves are changing everywhere.
Kim’s favorite vacation destination outside of Sunriver is a small village in northern Sicily called Santo Stefano di Briga, where her husband’s family on his father’s side resides. The townspeople were so kind and hospitable, she couldn’t help but fall in love with the place and its people. Fresh, local seafood just topped of the experience. She’s looking forward to making her next grand adventure to the Philippines to enjoy their spectacular beaches, waterfalls, and river caves.
If you don’t find Kim at the office, out exploring nature, or working out, you might catch her belting out a power ballad in her car, Adele-style.
If you asked Kim’s friends and family, they would tell you she is honest, authentic, laid back and adventurous. Kim’s biggest inspiration is her son, Joseph, who’s in Portland, studying photography. He’s super outgoing, always making friends, and not afraid to try anything.
If someone gave Kim one million dollars, she’d use it to open an animal sanctuary and fulfill her childhood dream of working with animals.
