The Miller family has been traveling to Sunriver for over 20 years. "We love the clean, fresh air and being in a place that gets so much SUN (we're from Seattle). At first, it was just the two of us, then once we had our daughter, Kelly, she became part of the tradition. The three of us loved Sunriver, and we rented various homes during our stays. In 1999, when our daughter, Kelly, was 7, we found our "Sunriver Cabin". It felt like home, so we bought it! We were glad to have our own place, especially when our family grew again. When Kelly was 10, we added Hercules and then Shaka, our two border terriers. Not only do we love having "our boys" with us in Sunriver, we think Sunriver is one of their favorite places to be! We've spent many hours together, exploring and walking the trails.

We love all the things to do in Sunriver, although a lot of times we don't do a whole lot. Through the years we've gone golfing, skiing, sledding, hiking, swimming, boating and more, but at the same time it feels like the one place we can "shut down" and relax. So we usually find ourselves sleeping in, and then strolling over to Café Sintra for a late breakfast (we love the close proximity to the Village, and usually walk everywhere)!

Thanks to laptops and WiFi, we can still be connected to the things we need to keep on top of, like Facebook (our teenager) and work (the parents).

One thing we do make time for is golf. Kelly started golfing at an early age, and became serious about it in her teens. She played junior golf in Washington and traveled all over the US for tournaments. She ended up with several college scholarship offers, and started playing for Portland State University in the fall of 2011. It's been very convenient for her to play and practice, either right there in Sunriver, or at one of the many facilities in Bend.

This past summer, Kelly and her friends made a last-minute trip to Sunriver. By the time she made her plans, our cabin was already booked, and she ended up staying with another family in a condo. We asked her how she liked it. She said, "it wasn't homey like our cabin - and it didn't have a hot tub!" That's what we've tried to create a cozy cabin-in-the-woods feeling to be enjoyed by our guests as well as ourselves.
