Fall River
The Fall River, a spring fed high mountain
stream, is located about 5 miles southwest of Sunriver,
Oregon. This pristine fly fishing only river, with its
crystal clear water, meadow lined banks and spectacular
waterfalls, is one of the most beautiful fly fishing Central
Oregon streams. Access to the upper part of the river, from
the rivers source to the Hatchery, is off of South Century
Drive (Forest Rd 42).
Fly Fishing Fall River is open year round on the upper
stretches of the river, the water from the falls to the
Deschutes River has special regulations in the spring and
the fall to protect the spawning rainbow trout and brown
trout migrating form the Deschutes River.
Crooked River
Draining nearly 4500 square miles of Oregon’s
Eastern “High Desert”, the Crooked River cuts through the
sage and rim rock on it’s destination to the Lower Deschutes
River. The Crooked River is an oasis for wild Redband
Rainbow Trout, Golden Eagles, Desert Mule Deer, and of
course….the fly fisher. Carving a path through steep
basalt canyons provides unparalleled scenery for everyone
from bird watchers, hikers, climbers, horse back riders, and
fishers alike. Easy access for the fly fishing enthusiast
sets the Crooked River in a class by itself.
River Borne Outfitters offers full and half day walk in
trips on the Crooked River! A great venue for all level of
anglers and being less than a hour from Bend and Sunriver
makes this is a great option for those who have just a
morning or afternoon to fish!

Hosmer Lake
Hosmer Lake is one of the most beautiful
places for central Oregon fly fishing. Hosmer Lake is
really two fly fishing lakes that are joined by a long
weed-lined channel. There are, nearly, 160 acres of
water here that are surrounded by marshland and
mountains! Only 8’-10’ in depth at its deepest point, it
produces some of the most fun (and challenging) central
Oregon fly fishing. Catch and release is mandatory for
any Atlantic Salmon that are fooled into striking your
fly, but up to 5 Brook Trout per day may be kept if they
are over 8”.
Listed among Oregon’s quiet waters, this fly fishing
lake sees lots of canoes/kayaks and is ideal for drift
boats, float tubes and pontoon boats for accessing the
prime central Oregon fly fishing water. Gasoline engines
ARE NOT permitted on this lake and electric motors may
be used to travel from point A to point B but must be
OFF when one is fly fishing.
There are an amazing number of birds and animals here on
Hosmer Lake Oregon. Bitterns, Ducks, Geese, Ospreys,
Bald Eagles, Deer, Red-Winged Blackbirds and many
others.
Hosmer Lake can be an almost magical place but it does
not give up its secrets easily.
