Bad
Weather in Sunriver? Enjoy These 6
Indoor Dog Activities
Don't Let
Bad Weather Get You and Fido Down. Play
Indoors!
Wet or cold
weather while on vacation can make it
impossible to play outside with your
dog. Don't let the weather get you
down. Try some of these indoor
activities to ward off boredom for you
and your dog while in Sunriver (or use
these at home too).
1)
Teach your dog a new trick.
Dogs love to please us and love to be
stimulated. What better way to ward off
the bad weather blues than by learning a
new trick that you and Fido can show off
to all your friends and family when you
get home.
2) Go
shopping! What better way is
their to spoil your dog then to take
them shopping? I am not sure what
my dog Kai enjoys more, all of the
smells he finds at the pet store or the
handful of treats he gets from the
employees.

3)
Pamper your dog! Who doesn't
love a spa day? If your dog enjoys baths
(or even if he just tolerates them) give
him/her a bath. I prefer to spend the
$15 and take my dog to the u-wash
station at the local pet store.
That one on one time we get to spend is
so valuable. Not sure he enjoys it
much, but I sure do (he does love it
when I take him out of the bath).

Express - East side).
4) Popcorn
and a movie. One of my dogs
favorite treats is popcorn (me too!).
Rent a dog themed movie or just any
movie that has a dog in it (As Good As
It Gets is a great choice.), pop some
popcorn for you and Fido and sit down
and enjoy the show. I hold the bowl of
popcorn on my lap and every few minutes
throw a piece as far as I can, Kai
enjoys running to find the popcorn while
I get to relax and enjoy the movie.

5)
Create and play! Kai loves to
get new toys, but I don't always have
the time or money to run out and get a
new toy. So I came up with a plan,
whenever Kai destroys a toy I save the
squeaker. I take the squeaker, a clean
sock, and a few treats. I stuff the sock
with the treats and the squeaker tie the
open end shut and we play fetch and
tug-a-war until he gets the treats and
squeaker out of the sock.
6)
Hide and seek. Another game
that Kai loves to play is hide and seek.
We have two different ways that we play
hide and seek. In the first version I
show him a treat and make him stay. I
leave the room with the treat and "hide"
the treat in another room. I usually
just lay the treat on top of a chair or
bed, I then return to the room where he
is anxiously waiting to be released and
tell him to "find it". In seconds he is
back for another round.
In the second
version of hide and seek I hide while
Kai is in a sit/stay. Once I find
a good location to hide I call his name.
No matter how many times in a row we
play this game he gets so excited when
he finds me.
Next time bad
weather comes your way you might
actually look forward to it!
